Christopher Dennehy, LCSW-R

If you are seeking to regain who you once were, uncover who you know you could be, become who you want to be, build on who you already are, or all the above, we can do that together. Life is something that just is; we are what happens in it. I work with you to reclaim what may seem out of your control, to step back into the driver's seat of your own life. We all struggle at times and it is not about how strong or weak we are, but how much support we have. Together we can move through it and out.

I have been in direct clinical practice since 1988 bringing a history of working effectively with those who feel lost: with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and having an experience of being emotionally "stuck" in patterns that seem to have a life of their own.

I have worked in all settings: inpatient crisis centers, long term hospital units, residential programs, inpatient hospital units, therapeutic communities, day programs, intensive and non intensive outpatient programs. I have been teaching an Abnormal Psychology class as an adjunct professor for Marist for over 10 years. I have owned and operated three different CASAC schools. I was the Executive Director of Step One, an OASAS certified outpatient substance abuse program from 2001-2022.

I'm specifically trained in Individual, Couples and Family Gestalt Psychotherapy, accentuated by cognitive behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing strategies, Family Systems theory, rational emotive theory, client centered and solution focused strategies. I'm a Certified Hypnotherapist and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I'm OASAS certified to provide court evaluations.
